The Seychelles — 115 granite islands in the Indian Ocean — have a tropical climate with year-round high temperatures (25–32°C) and warm sea temperatures (27–29°C). The two monsoons divide the year: the south-east monsoon (May–September) brings stronger wind and rougher seas to the west coast, while the north-west monsoon (November–March) is calmer but rainier.
The best travel time falls in the transition months of April and October, when both coastlines offer calm seas and precipitation is moderate. Mahé, the main island, is travelable year-round; the flat atolls such as Aldabra and Cosmoledo are season-dependent. The coral reef around the Seychelles has largely survived, despite worldwide coral bleaching — ideal for divers.
