The best time to visit Egypt (Marsa Alam) is March, April, May, October, November, and December. In summer, temperatures rise to 36°C; in winter they can drop to 15°C. During the best travel months, the sun shines up to 11 hours per day — ideal for beach and outdoor activities.
Marsa Alam is one of the driest places you can take a holiday in. The annual total is under 6 mm of rain — measured over twenty years, not a single month records a meaningful rain day. Add nine to twelve hours of sunshine daily, year-round. On this stretch of coast, weather is simply not a planning factor.
The Red Sea is warmer here than further north at Hurghada: in August and September it typically reaches 30°C and does not drop below 23°C even in February and March. That makes Marsa Alam a year-round diving and snorkelling destination — the reefs off Abu Dabbab, with their dugongs and turtles, are why many divers prefer it to Sharm el-Sheikh.
Summer is the constraint. From June to August highs climb to 35–36°C, and because the desert begins immediately behind the hotel strip there is barely any shade. November to April are the pleasant months at 22–29°C — which is also the window when European winter escapees arrive. For a compromise: October brings 31°C air and 28°C water.
