The best time to visit India (Goa) is January, February, March, April, May, November, and December. In summer, temperatures rise to 33°C; in winter they can drop to 21°C. During the best travel months, the sun shines up to 9 hours per day — ideal for beach and outdoor activities.
Goa on India's west coast has a tropical monsoon climate with one of the shortest but most intense rainy seasons in Asia. From June to September the south-west monsoon pours litres of rain over the coast daily, beaches become inaccessible and many hotels close. From October to May, however, perfect beach weather prevails with tropical sunshine.
Goa's high season runs from November to February: temperatures of typically 28–32°C, low humidity and a vibrant nightlife make these months the favourite destination for Europeans on a winter escape. December is particularly popular — Goa transforms into an international beach party metropolis.
March to May is the shoulder season: still dry weather, but rising heat and humidity — temperatures climb to a monthly average of 32–33°C, significantly higher during individual heatwaves. Those who want to travel cheaply and can tolerate the heat will still find March manageable. From May it becomes increasingly muggy and pre-monsoon — the first rains announce themselves with thunderstorms.
