Indonesia lies close to the equator — temperatures barely fluctuate throughout the year between 26°C and 34°C. What changes is the rainfall: Bali and most islands have a pronounced dry season from April to October and a rainy season from November to March. The dry season is the classic main travel period with lower humidity and reliable sunshine.
Bali is travelable year-round, but the dry season (May to September) offers the best conditions for beach holidays and outdoor activities. In the rainy season it usually rains in short, intense showers in the afternoon and evening — mornings are often still fine. Lombok, Bali's neighbouring island, has an even drier climate and fewer tourist crowds; Mount Rinjani can be climbed there well from April to October.
