Morocco has a pronounced north-south and coast-inland gradient. The Atlantic and Mediterranean coasts in the north are mild year-round — Marrakech and the interior, by contrast, experience temperatures above 38°C in summer, while it can get uncomfortably cold at night in winter. The coastal city of Agadir is one of the mildest destinations in North Africa and is pleasant even in winter at 18–20°C.
Spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) are the classic best travel time for the interior and cities such as Marrakech and Fès. In April the almond and orange trees are in full bloom, and temperatures are ideal for city sightseeing and trekking tours in the Atlas Mountains. While summer is hot, the coastal regions benefit from the Atlantic wind and remain manageable.
