The best time to visit Tenerife is May, June, July, August, September, October, and November. In summer, daytime highs average 29°C (84°F), with peaks around 35°C (95°F); in winter, nights average 15°C (59°F), dropping to around 11°C (52°F) on the coldest. Rainfall is very low during the best travel period (6 mm (0.2 in)), making Tenerife an ideal destination.
Tenerife rightly earns its nickname "Island of Eternal Spring". The year-round mild climate with temperatures typically between 19°C (66°F) and 28°C (82°F) makes the largest Canary Island an ideal destination even outside peak season. The reason lies in its geographic position: Tenerife sits off the West African coast and is bathed by the cool Canary Current, which prevents extreme heat.
The island has two very different faces, however: the dry, sun-drenched south around Playa de las Américas contrasts with the green, occasionally overcast north. This is due to the trade wind, which piles up moist air on the slopes of Mount Teide. Those who want guaranteed sunshine choose the south — those who prefer lush nature and hiking choose the north.
Mount Teide (3,715 m (12,188 ft)) influences the climate across the entire island. In winter its summit is often beneath a thick layer of cloud while the coast stays sunny. This is precisely what makes Tenerife one of the few places in the world where you can see snow in the morning and lie on the beach in the afternoon.

April offers great weather in Tenerife with fewer tourists and lower prices — ideal for those who want to avoid the peak season crowds.
Tenerife is the Canary Island that never has a real winter. Mount Teide's summit sometimes wears snow while swimmers lie on the beaches in the south — a contrast that feels more surreal here than anywhere else in Europe. In February, Santa Cruz erupts in carnival fever.
Spring in Tenerife: the north with its laurel forests is lush and green, the banana plantations are in bloom and visitor numbers in the south stay moderate. La Laguna and Garachico invite you to wander before the summer waves roll in.
Peak season: the south around Playa de las Américas runs around the clock, while the north around Puerto de la Cruz stays a little quieter and greener. Trade-wind clouds regularly bank up against Teide — drive up to 2,100 metres (6,890 ft) and you look down on a sea of clouds.
The best time for anyone who doesn't want beach at any price: ideal hiking temperatures, the Masca Gorge and Roque del Conde without the crowds. Surfers flock to the north coast, and whale-watching season gets going off the south.
One of the biggest carnivals in the world after Rio. Highlights: the election of the Carnival Queen and the grand parade on Saturday.
In La Laguna (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), elaborate carpets of flowers are laid out on the square in front of the cathedral.
