Spain is climatically one of the most diverse travel destinations in Europe. The Canary Islands, thanks to their location off the West African coast, offer mild weather year-round between 18°C and 28°C — ideal for winter visitors. The Balearic Islands (Mallorca, Ibiza) and the Mediterranean coast have their high season from May to October, with hot, dry summers and pleasant spring months. Southern Spain and Andalusia bear the brunt of the summer heat: in July and August, temperatures regularly climb above 36°C.
Those who want sun and beach will find year-round optimal conditions on the Canaries, while Mallorca and Ibiza are clear recommendations from the end of April to mid-October. Barcelona and the Costa Brava are milder and greener than the south — spring and autumn are particularly beautiful there. The biggest climatic surprise Spain has to offer: Lanzarote and Fuerteventura are windier than the other islands in summer, making them the perfect destination for surfers and kitesurfers.
