Still off-season — flights and hotels significantly cheaper than in May.
April in Ireland (Dublin) at 12°C (54°F) is too cool for a beach holiday, but suitable for sightseeing and hiking. The best travel months are May, June, July, August, September, and October.
Temperatures reach a maximum of 12°C (54°F) during the day and drop to 5°C (41°F) at night — warm layers recommended. Peaks reach around 17°C (63°F), the coldest nights around -2°C (28°F) — frost does occur. With 5 sunshine hours per day and 6 rain days (39 mm (1.5 in)), this is one of the cloudier months. At 10°C (50°F), the water is still quite cool in April — a wetsuit may be useful.
Pack warm clothing and sturdy footwear. Cool temperatures make hiking and cultural trips enjoyable — beaches are off the agenda.
St Patrick's Day turns the city green around 17 March, after which things calm down. April is comparatively dry with six rainy days, and May brings six hours of sunshine a day. The parks bloom and the coast around Howth is hiked again.
