Singapore · Asia
Singapore lies almost exactly on the equator and accordingly has a tropical rainforest climate with no pronounced seasons. Temperatures of typically 28–30°C and high humidity prevail year-round. Rain falls frequently, but usually in short, heavy afternoon showers — mornings are generally dry and sunny.
The driest time is February to April, when the north-east monsoon fades and the south-west monsoon has not yet begun. The September night-race period is another highlight: the Formula 1 night race takes place then, the city is festively lit, and the weather is still reasonably dry.
Singapore is one of the hottest cities in the world — and even hotter than the surrounding countryside due to the urban heat island effect of its densely built environment. Those who want to explore the impressive skyline and Gardens by the Bay should start early in the morning or after the evening rain shower. The air-conditioned shopping centres of Orchard Road offer welcome relief.
