The best time to visit Málaga is May, June, July, August, September, and October. In summer, temperatures rise to 31°C; in winter they can drop to 8°C. During the best travel months, the sun shines up to 11 hours per day — ideal for beach and outdoor activities.
Málaga on the Costa del Sol is one of the sunniest cities in Europe: over 320 sunny days a year are not unusual, and even in winter temperatures on the coast still typically reach 16°C. The reason lies in the geography: the Baetic mountain system to the north shields Málaga from cold continental winds and creates an exceptionally mild microclimate that gives January visitors T-shirt temperatures.
High summer (July/August) in Málaga is warm at typically 30°C but less oppressive than inland cities such as Seville or Córdoba. The Levante — a warm easterly wind — can occasionally bring muggy periods but is rarer and shorter than on the Costa Blanca. The Mediterranean invites swimming in summer and well into autumn.
Autumn on the Costa del Sol is the best insider tip: September offers temperatures of typically 27°C, while in October the monthly average drops to 22–23°C — ideal for hiking and strolling. Sunshine on almost every day. The summer holiday crowds have departed, prices are lower, and Málaga's old town — birthplace of Picasso — can be explored without the crowds. The Terral, a warm mountain wind from the interior, can bring additional warmth and clear air in autumn.

April offers great weather in Málaga with fewer tourists and lower prices — ideal for those who want to avoid the peak season crowds.
