Off-season — lowest travel prices with still acceptable climate.
June in Hong Kong is generally manageable, but with 16 rain days it's not a reliably sunny month. Better conditions can be found in April, October, and November.
Daytime highs reach 31°C (88°F) with a daily average of 29°C (84°F) — nights stay warm at 27°C (81°F). Peaks reach around 34°C (93°F), the coldest nights around 24°C (75°F). With 6 sunshine hours per day and 16 rain days (393 mm (15.5 in)), this is one of the cloudier months. The water is a warm 30°C (86°F) — perfect for snorkelling and swimming.
An umbrella or waterproof jacket is essential. On rainy days, plan indoor activities like museums and markets.
Hot, muggy and rainy: highs sit at 31 to 32°C (88 to 90°F), the nights stay warm and humidity climbs to 75 to 80 per cent. Thunderstorms and downpours roll through, and the typhoon season reaches its peak. In return the beaches on Lantau and the Outlying Islands are bath-warm, and air-conditioned museums and malls are in demand. In September (sometimes early October, depending on the lunar calendar) lanterns glow in the parks for the Mid-Autumn Festival.
Around the Tuen Ng holiday, more than 200 teams from around the world race at the international dragon boat races on Victoria Harbour off Tsim Sha Tsui. The races have run since 1976, with music and cultural events along the Avenue of Stars.
