Turkey offers two very different climate regions for holidaymakers. The Turkish Riviera around Antalya and the Aegean coast with Bodrum and Marmaris have a long, hot summer from May to October — perfect for a beach holiday. Istanbul and the north-west, by contrast, are travelable year-round and have a mild temperate climate with warm summers and cool, sometimes rainy winters.
High summer (July–August) on the Riviera is very hot: daytime temperatures of 34–36°C are normal, the Mediterranean warms to up to 28°C. Spring and autumn travellers enjoy a pleasant 22–26°C with significantly lower hotel prices. Istanbul is particularly beautiful in April and October — the tulip bloom in spring and the golden light over the Bosphorus in autumn are among the most unforgettable impressions of the city.
