Turkey (Antalya) – What you should know

The Turkish Riviera around Antalya is among the hottest beach destinations in the Mediterranean. From May to October the sun shines almost without interruption, and Mediterranean water temperatures climb to typically 26–28°C in midsummer. It's no surprise that the region draws millions of holidaymakers from across Europe every year.

Summer comes early and stays late: as early as May, average high temperatures reach 25°C, making Antalya an ideal early-summer destination — before high season brings crowded beaches and higher prices. October is the insider tip at the other end: still up to 25°C warm, sea water typically around 25°C, but considerably quieter.

On the hottest July days, the thermometer in Antalya can top 34°C — the monthly climate average for July typically reaches 34–35°C. The city itself suffers from intense heat at this time, while the higher-altitude ruin sites such as Perge or Termessos are somewhat more pleasant to visit. Spring and autumn are far better suited for excursions into the hinterland and to historic sites.
