Still off-season — flights and hotels significantly cheaper than in May.
April in Canada (Vancouver) is on the cool side — with highs around 13°C (55°F) it's less suited for a beach holiday, but good for sightseeing away from the high season.
Temperatures reach a maximum of 13°C (55°F) during the day and drop to 7°C (45°F) at night — warm layers recommended. Peaks reach around 19°C (66°F), the coldest nights around 2°C (36°F). With 6 sunshine hours per day and 10 rain days (100 mm (3.9 in)), this is one of the cloudier months. At 10°C (50°F), the water is still quite cool in April — a wetsuit may be useful.
Pack warm clothing and sturdy footwear. Cool temperatures make hiking and cultural trips enjoyable — beaches are off the agenda.
Spring comes early: cherry trees blossom across the city, the parks turn green, and the first dry days draw Vancouverites onto the Seawall. It stays changeable, but the sun is winning. Anyone who still wants snow will find it in the mountains until late spring.
Around the cherry blossom there are guided walks, picnics and the Sakura Days Japan Fair at VanDusen Botanical Garden.
