Deep off-season — very low prices, but weather conditions are suboptimal.
November is the coldest winter month in Estonia (Tallinn) — with highs of only 5°C (41°F), it holds little appeal for sun-seekers. Better travel in June, July, August, and September.
Temperatures reach a maximum of 5°C (41°F) during the day and drop to 1°C (34°F) at night — warm layers recommended. Peaks reach around 11°C (52°F), the coldest nights around -7°C (19°F) — frost does occur. With 1 sunshine hour per day and 9 rain days (72 mm (2.8 in)), this is one of the cloudier months. At 8°C (46°F), the water is still quite cool in November — a wetsuit may be useful.
Pack warm clothing and sturdy footwear. Cool temperatures make hiking and cultural trips enjoyable — beaches are off the agenda.
A golden September at 16°C (61°F), then cooler and wetter: October has nine rainy days and the days shorten quickly. The Old Town is quieter, and trips into the forests of Lahemaa tempt with autumn colours and mushrooms.
One of Northern Europe's major film festivals, with competitions, short-film and youth programmes in Tallinn and Tartu.
