March is among the best months in Mexico (Yucatán): only 2 rain days, 34°C (93°F) highs, and good sunshine make for ideal holiday conditions.
Daytime highs average 34°C (93°F), cooling to 21°C (70°F) at night (daily average: 27°C (81°F)). Peaks reach around 38°C (100°F), the coldest nights around 15°C (59°F). The sun shines an average of 9 hours per day; there are 2 rain days with 25 mm (1.0 in) total. The water is a warm 26°C (79°F) — perfect for snorkelling and swimming.
Pack light summer clothing, sunscreen, and swimwear — beach and water conditions in March are ideal.
Dry, sunny and hot, with the sea as the only real relief. Ruins are best visited at dawn, and the midday hours belong to the pool or a cenote. In spring, sargassum seaweed can change the look of Caribbean beaches, while the Gulf side often stays clearer.
In the late afternoon, light and shadow draw a serpent onto the north staircase of the Kukulcán pyramid. Tens of thousands come to watch; the spectacle repeats in September.
